Uddhav Thackeray - A Lifestory

Uddhav Thackeray is a prominent Indian politician who served as the 19th Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2019 to 2022. Born on July 27, 1960, in Mumbai, he hails from a politically influential family. His father was Bal Thackeray, the founder of the Shiv Sena, a regional political party with a strong base in Maharashtra. Uddhav Thackeray's early life was largely removed from active politics; he pursued his interests in photography, a passion he continues to nurture. He is married to Rashmi Thackeray, and they have two sons, Aaditya and Tejas.

While initially maintaining a lower profile compared to other members of his family, Uddhav Thackeray gradually became more involved in the Shiv Sena. He formally entered politics in 2002 and was appointed as the party's working president in 2003. After his father's death in 2012, Uddhav Thackeray assumed the leadership of the Shiv Sena, guiding the party through various political challenges and alliances.

His tenure as Chief Minister marked a significant shift in Maharashtra's political landscape. He led a coalition government comprising the Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Indian National Congress, a departure from the Shiv Sena's longstanding alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Ultimately, he resigned from his position in June 2022 following a period of political crisis and a change in the ruling coalition.
