Tej Bahadur Sapru was a prominent Indian lawyer, political figure, and social reformer who played a significant role in the Indian independence movement. Born on December 8, 1875, in Aligarh, he hailed from a Kashmiri Pandit family with a rich intellectual tradition. Sapru received his education at Agra College and later earned a law degree from Allahabad University. He established a successful legal practice in the Allahabad High Court, quickly gaining recognition for his sharp intellect and advocacy skills. Beyond his legal career, Sapru was deeply involved in Indian politics. He was a moderate nationalist, advocating for constitutional reforms and selfgovernance within the British Empire. He served as a member of the United Provinces Legislative Council and later as a member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, holding the portfolio of Law Member.

Sapru was a key figure in the Liberal Party of India and played a crucial role in mediating between the Indian National Congress and the British government. He was a strong advocate for HinduMuslim unity and worked tirelessly to bridge the communal divide.
