Ramesh Sippy, an iconic Indian filmmaker, was born on January 23, 1947, in Karachi, British India, and later moved to Mumbai. The son of producer G.P. Sippy made his directorial debut with Andaz (1971), but it was his magnum opus Sholay (1975) that became a cinematic phenomenon, redefining Indian cinema with its gripping narrative, unforgettable characters, and technical brilliance.
