Rajarshi Shahu - A Lifestory

A person known for fairness and positive change was not just the ruler of Kolhapur. He was a leader who changed the way his state and other places worked. He was born Yeshwantrao Jayasinghrao Ghatge in 1874. His time as ruler started in 1894. It was a time of working hard for everyone to be equal and for those who were not treated well to have more power. He was like a hero in a movie about history. He always worked to end old unfair ideas. He really cared about education, especially for those who did not have much. He knew that learning was important for a better future. He made sure everyone could go to schools and colleges, no matter who they were. Because of this, others praised him as someone who helped those in need. This person also worked to improve farming and businesses to help people's money situations. In 1902, he made a big change by reserving government jobs for those who were not Brahmins. This was a brave act that had a big effect on the country. It still affects plans to help people today. He was a great ruler and a good friend to everyday people. He died on 06 May 1922, but his work to change society still inspires people.
