Mohanlal Pandya - A Lifestory
Champion Of Freedom: His Sacrifice Ignited India'S Independence

Here's a good start for the story of someone called Mohan lal Pandya: Mohan lal Pandya, a name written in the books of Indian history, was a brave fighter for freedom. His brave heart and never changing devotion were very important in the fight for India to be free. He was born on 10 October 1898, in Surat, Gujarat. He soon got involved in the fight against the British rulers. Pandya's work in the Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928 really showed how good he was at leading. He was a main organizer, working with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. This peaceful movement, which was against higher taxes on land, led to him being arrested many times. Because he was so devoted to the cause, the local people gave him the name "Dungarno Bail" (Bull of the Mountains). Pandya followed Mahatma Gandhi's ideas and took part in different movements where people did not obey the rules, like the Salt Satyagraha in 1930. He was put in jail and faced hard times, but he never gave up. His actions, as said by Shri Manubhai Pancholi, "showed a level of devotion to the nation that was not seen before". His selfless service and strong beliefs, as people who knew him remembered, made many others want to join the fight for freedom. He kept working until India became free in 1947. Pandya died on 19 December 1984.
