Here's an introduction for Lala Lajpat Rai: Lala Lajpat Rai, a big person in India's fight for freedom, was a wellknown freedom fighter and politician. His life showed strong love for his country. He was born on 28 January 1865 in Punjab. He started with a strong belief in making society better. This was because of the lessons from Swami Dayanand Saraswati and his Arya Samaj. He was not only a politician; he spoke for those who had no voice. He stood up for those who were treated badly. Lala Lajpat Rai was very important in the Indian National Congress. He wanted India to rule itself and he inspired many people. He was part of the Swadeshi movement. This movement told people to use things made in India. This showed he believed in being free in terms of money. His strong speeches and writings often said bad things about British rule. This gave him the name "Punjab Kesari" (Lion of Punjab). He was put in jail many times for what he did in politics. This included during the Non Cooperation Movement and the Simon Commission protests in 1928.
