Kanailal Dutta - A Lifestory
Revolutionary: Igniting The Fire Of Freedom, Forever In Our Hearts

A name known in Indian freedom history shows strong bravery and giving up oneself. He was not just someone in the fight for freedom; he was a passionate person whose actions showed the strong feelings of a country wanting freedom. Born in 1888, his early life was full of the growing feeling of love for his country that was all over Bengal. He got very involved with secret groups fighting for freedom. He was moved by people like Khudiram Bose, and he gave himself to the cause of Indian freedom. His part in the Alipore Bomb Case of 1908, a case shown in many movies and historical stories, was a big change in his life. Even though many freedom fighters were arrested because of the case, his determination only got stronger. He is most known for his brave act of killing Narendra Nath Goswami, who had turned against the group, inside Alipore Jail on 31 August 1908. This act, seen by many as a fair revenge, made him a hero in the eyes of his fellow freedom fighters. He faced his trial with calm strength, not trying to defend himself at all. As he famously said, "I do not want to say anything. What I have done, I have done." He was finally sentenced to death and hanged on 10 November 1908. His giving up his life still moves people today, reminding us of the cost paid for the freedom we have now.
