Basavaraj Bommai - A Lifestory

Basavaraj Bommai is an Indian politician who served as the 23rd Chief Minister of Karnataka from 2021 to 2023. Born on January 28, 1960, in Hubli, Karnataka, he hails from a family with a strong political background. His father, S. R. Bommai, was also a prominent political figure and served as the Chief Minister of Karnataka in the late 1980s. This familial connection undoubtedly influenced Basavaraj's entry into the political arena.

Before venturing into politics, Bommai pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering from B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology in Hubli. He initially worked for Tata Motors for a brief period before becoming an industrialist. His early career experiences provided him with valuable insights into the workings of the business world, which he later applied to his political endeavors.

Bommai's political career began in the Janata Dal, and he later joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) twice before being elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Shiggaon constituency in 2008. He subsequently won the same seat in the 2013 and 2018 elections, demonstrating his consistent popularity among his constituents.
