Bagha Jatin - A Lifestory

A person known for bravery and strong feelings about freedom is a big name in India's fight for independence. They were more than just someone who fought for freedom; they showed how to stand up against British rule, pushing many others to join the fight. Born as Jatindranath Mukherjee, their life showed true love for their country and willingness to give up everything for it. Their actions, often like something from a story, still have an effect today. Often shown in movies about that time, like the soontocome "Bagha Jatin" (2023), their story is a strong reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom. They took part in the Yugantar Party, a group that wanted complete independence. Their part in events like the German Plot during World War I, which tried to get weapons for a revolt, shows their smart thinking and promise to fight with weapons. They got the name "Bagha Jatin" after killing a Royal Bengal tiger alone with just a knife – something that became a legend and made them known as a fearless fighter. People who worked with them, like Shri Aurobindo, really looked up to them, seeing their strength and ability to lead. Their famous saying, "Amra morbo, desh jagbe" ("We shall die to awaken the nation"), shows their strong belief in the cause and their willingness to die for it. They died on 10 September 1915 after a big fight with the British police at Balasore, forever making their name important in Indian history.
