Ajay Ratra - A Lifestory
Ratra: Wicketkeeping Brilliance And Steadfast Batting, A True Allrounder

Ajay Ratra is a former Indian cricketer who primarily played as a wicketkeeper and lowerorder batsman. While his international career was relatively brief, he is remembered for his contributions to Indian cricket during a period of transition. Ratra made his Test debut in 2002 against England and quickly gained attention for his solid wicketkeeping skills and occasional valuable runs with the bat. He holds the distinction of being the youngest wicketkeeper to score a Test century, achieving this feat against the West Indies in Antigua in 2002 at the age of 20. This innings showcased his resilience and ability to perform under pressure, solidifying his place in the Indian squad for a time.
Despite the promising start to his international career, Ratra faced stiff competition from other talented wicketkeepers, including Parthiv Patel and Dinesh Karthik, who emerged around the same time. This competition limited his opportunities to represent India consistently. He played a total of 6 Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals (ODIs) for India. Although his international career didn't reach the heights many had anticipated, Ratra remained active in domestic cricket, representing Haryana and Tripura. He continued to contribute with his experience and skills, mentoring younger players and maintaining a presence in the Indian cricketing landscape. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching, further contributing to the development of cricket at the grassroots level.
