A. R. Rahman, born A. S. Dileep Kumar on January 6, 1967, in Chennai, is a globally renowned composer, musician, and philanthropist. His passion for music began early after the death of his father when he was nine, leading his family to convert to Islam, and he adopted the name "Allah Rakha Rahman." His breakthrough came with the 1992 film Roja, marking the start of his successful career as a composer in Tamil and Hindi cinema. Rahman’s innovative blend of Indian classical, electronic, and world music has earned him numerous accolades, including two Academy Awards for Slumdog Millionaire (2008), making him the first Indian composer to win an Oscar for Original Score.
